Ashley Flowers is the creator of the new series, “Everyday Superhero Books.” When she was 10 years old, she sat down in class to write about her favorite superhero, and chose to write about her firefighter dad instead of Batman. She had no idea that at age 15, she would once again find herself writing about superheroes. This time it would be a poem that hung in the Midtown Fire house in New York, written in honor of the many brave men and women who risked their lives to save the lives of others on 9/11. You might say this is when she began to believe that superpowers really do exist. They just aren’t in lightening speed, or endless amounts of strength. They exist in the heroes who help people. Her mission is to continue to honor our real life superheroes in this new series. Ashley lives with her husband and daughter in Southern California, but is excited to “fly” around the world on her quest to thank as many everyday superheroes as possible.
